Because of tracfone's special minute tracking software, they do have a sim card, but only works on tracfones.?

Tracfone sim card will not work with any other phone unfortunately. This is due to the software meant for this sim card, it is meant to track the minutes, so the sim will not work.

You answered your own question, and you are right.
You are correct. On top of that. Tracfone actually won’t even let you use a Tracfone sim with any other phone but the one it came with or is meant for. They are married so that even if you put a Tracfone sim in another Tracfone, if they are not the original matched pair of phone to sim, it won’t work. You have to call Tracfone for a new sim for a phone without one.
Tracfone, Net10 and Virgin Mobile are all known for their cheap phones and their extremely high phone security. They do this because phone traffickers like to buy up their cheap phones by the thousands, unlock/flash them for other networks and resell them overseas.
In addition to making it hard to unlock/flash/hack their phones, Trac/Net and Virgin aggressively use legal means to sue phone traffickers to stop their practice. They have won many such lawsuits.
