Does Telecom in New Zealand sell SIM cards for the iPhone 3G?

I have an iPhone 3G that I bought in America and I’m moving to New Zealand. I know Vodafone sells SIM cards but I don’t want to be on a Vodafone plan. I was wondering whether Telecom sold SIM cards for my iPhone 3G or if I would have to get a new Telecom phone instead.

I’m afraid the short answer is no. The NZ Telecom network operates on CDMA and does not use SIM cards. If you want to use the Telecom network you will have to buy a CDMA compatible phone.
