How to connect a router to another router for internet access?

I tried connecting one router that’s not connected to the internet to a router that is, using a long ethernet cable. I did that cause the wireless connection in the lower levels of the house didn’t have strong connection but when I did I wasn’t able to get an internet connection on the lower level router. How do you fix this problem?

A router behind a router can be a bit tricky because you are doing NAT translations twice. If the second router has a pass through (repeater) mode, use that. At the least, make sure the WAN side of the slave router is set to DHCP or a static IP in the master router’s LAN pool.
it needs to be in repeater mode although that cuts the speed in half as it isn’t full duplex, try a powertrain system that plugs into the house wall sockets and uses the electrical wiring to send the signals or buy a bigger antenna with 6-12Db of gain
when u connect it will show up on the side
1) Check the cable
- Look for "green lights" on both routers where its plugged in.
- If no green light, the cable is probably bad.
2) Make sure your Modem is plugged into the Internet port on your First Router,
3) Make sure your First Router is plugged into the internet port on your Second Router.
Without knowing what kind of routers you have I can’t be of much further assistance.
This can work, but you need to give a bit more information then you have. The first thing I would try would be to plug my laptop directly into the ethernet cable that you are trying to attach the second router to and make sure you are actually getting a connection at that point. If you are, then it means the router is the problem and you will need to start looking at the configuration to make sure the IP addresses, router, and subnet masks all work together. If you can list the config on the first router maybe we can help configuring the second.
