Is it possible to keep your phone when you switch cell phone companies?

Like I have a motorola Razr and I have t-mobile and want to switch companies.Is it possible to keep my same phone?

It all depends who your carrier is, some companies use GSM technology and others use CDMA. Sprint, Alltel and Verizon for example use CDMA. T-Mobile and AT&T use GSM. In your case you could switch to AT&T and keep your phone but in that case you must look for someone to perform a procedure known as "flashing" your phone.

As long as your phone is not locked in with that company. Some charge a fee (a very large fee) to get it unlocked. Others simply ban it from other networks.
Then you might be lucky and get the company that will let you do it for free.
Most likely if you just get your phone unlocked and take it to the other place you should be able to use it, if you do go to another company get the free phone and put it on Ebay.
