Is there a number I can call to find out where my $8000 new home buyer credit is?

I bought my house in June and my loan officer told me I could amend my 2008 taxes to add my new home buyers credit to. Now it has been about 10 weeks and they said it would take 8-10 to get it back. Is there a number or some way of tracking where it is and when I am going to get it? Thanks

You can call the IRS, but they will only give you a generic answer. By the way, the average processing time is 16 weeks NOT 8-10. You got bad info on that timetable
Save yourself a long wait on hold. It’ll probably be another month or two yet. It’s really running around 16 weeks.
