Need help on business software that acts as a Retail Management System?

Hey all.
I’m starting my own internet-based business soon and I need to know if there’s software that can self-update the inventory on my future website. Basically, I’m asking if there is an RMS (Retail Management System)software that also updates inventory/sales/customer contacts, etc. If such software database exists, please tell me how/where. Major kudos to the best answer, thank you very much for reading this!

Which shopping cart or E-commerce software are you planning to use for internet sales? Magento, ZenCart and OSCommerce are the leading ones. They are all open source and can be downloaded free. There are add-on inventory modules available – you may have to pay for this. They also integrate with free open source CRM software for sales/customer contacts.
