I recently started my first small business. I’m a couple of months away from soliciting business. My business strategy currently emphasizes professional approach to counter lack of experience and capital (for advertising, grand retail/office space, etc…). I already incorporated the company partly for this reason. I won’t be hiring employees, retailing directly nor do I expect to make a profit for at least a year. When should I join the BBB?

I have a major problem this the e-mail that I sent to BBB :
"I have a HP laptop Pavilion dv7 that I purchased from Wal-Mart brand new in 2008. A couple months after the manufactures warranty expired I accidentally dropped my laptop at school but it did not break anything but the faceplate over the charger port; however, the laptop was still use able but it did not charge. I took my laptop to my local computer store in Roxboro,NC. They informed me that we did not work with the power port and that I would have to go to different company that does good work with charger ports. Due to my schedule I just went to the closets computer shops on the list, so with that I went to Danville,VA to ‘Computer Clinics’ located on 932 Arnett Boulevard Danville, VA 24540-2233 (P-(434) 791-2111). Once I got there I told the receptionist what happened and I was told that I would receive a phone call once the technician looks at my laptop. A couple of days went by and I received a phone call while at work from Computer Clinics stating that I would be charged 0.00 fee + .00 for parts. So I agreed to it and I was told that I would receive a phone call once my laptop was ready for pick-up only to my disbelief I get a call saying that my motherboard was broken and that there was no charge for the services, it would be fairly expensive to repair the motherboard in which it would be cheaper to purchase another laptop. So I wanted to check my laptop out myself but my schedule didn’t work around the business hours of Computer Clinics so I asked a friend to pick it up for me. When he got to Computer Clinics a technician told him that my password that I gave them did NOT work. So once I had my laptop in my possession I noticed that the charger port was now fixed but the laptop itself would not power on. So the following Saturday I return with several witness before I contact the BBB with a case and have a little talk with the technicians. They could not find the written ticket that was written up but found some information on their computer systems, I talked with the technician named John who told me that he would look at my laptop the following Monday morning. Before closing time on Monday I called back to Computer Clinics to see what was resolved and I was told by another technician that my laptop motherboard was broken where the charger port was at and it could not be turned on. And quoted me a price of a new motherboard for my laptop.
I’m highly upset with this company and the only thing I want done is my laptop fixed. Before I brought my laptop to Computer Clinics I used my laptop at school charging my battery with my sister’s computer since we have the same computer just different styling. I have all my voice mails from the computer clinics receptionist and my call logs from my cell phone and my slip from Computer Solutions in Roxboro, NC referring to different computer businesses that could fix the charger port since most companies would not touch a charger port."
I know I’m not a computer tech but I know there story doesn’t add up and that laptop was the top of the line HP Laptop at the time and I had no intentions of getting a new one or having it in use. I would like to know some information about how to get my laptop fixed by the company that royally screwed me over – pardon my language and it basically trying to weasel their way out of not fixing it- unless I pay. Please I need someone(s) help to what my next step I should take. Also note that this takes place within two different states: NC, VA.

If a subcontractor has an unlisted cell phone as his business phone, and you only know him by his first name, and you are sure that his workers are almost completely incompetent (judging by the work they did) day laborers who may or may not have papers, is it fair to guess that he is making it impossible for people such as myself to make inquiries of the appropriate authorities? I wasn’t stupid enough to hire him, I was conned by a very famous national name and their misleading advertising which states that only their factory-trained technicians would be handling such installations. The franchisee pulled a fast one, and is attempting to pull many others as well. So am I correct about this cell phone thing? Thanks…
It’s the unlisted part, not the cell phone part as the main number, that struck me. So many of you are right, it’s hard to pick one, but I tell you, this national brand has a sterling, even snooty, reputation, JD Power benediction, and the BBB gives them an a+, because of the volume of work they do, the number of complaints still works in their favor. And I don’t think a lot of the people with a right to complain do so – this company is incensed that I won’t accept damaged parts and shoddy installation, it’s like I’m in the Twilight Zone when I speak with them, and they are highly sexist and I am referred to by the common dog appellation. So many people today, it seems, accept second best because they think that not upsetting themselves is the most important thing in creation, and so they let people like this get away with stuff, as long as it doesn’t disturb their coma-like existence. So I’m really going against the tide here.

They said I would get the latest version of software for debt management as well as a license for a members forum included with the negotiation with credit card companies to have a lower and fixed interest rate. None of this happened. I found out that the software was the paperwork they sent in the mail to inform them of the credit cards I have. Also there is no forum, only the workers at the company when you call in. They misrepresented themselves and have never done anything on my account, since February. I found out there are numerous complaints of there practices with the BBB. Can I get my credit card company to reverse the charge? Is there a way to get my money back? I already contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge. I contacted the company and they told me they are sorry I "misunderstood" that software meant paperwork, Yeah, right. Any Suggestions, Please! Thanks!

This business is a scam and I would like to know where it is located to keep them from taking other people to the cleaners like they did my mother. Please help. I do not know the cell-phone carrier.
I know the area code, I just need a web site address, if possible that will let me enter the number and will bring up the address the phone number is billed to. I have been to the BBB and all they let you do is file a complaint, but you need an address for the business.

I Looked under the BBB already, and tried a reverse look up on the number. This man called a lady I take care of and sold her an alert system, he wanted her to pay monthly and pay a big fee up front.( I set one up with her alarm company for no monthly fee, and a one time small charge) I called to cancel and he didn’t answer the phone as a company phone, more like a cell phone. I looked the name of the company up on the web and can’t find it. I can’t get much info on it at all…..
