I received a phone call and email for a job interview fron Bankers conseco life insurance co long island. They got my resume from Monsters.com.
Do any one knows about this company. I have my experience in accounting and finance.

Later they said they deposited the money in a temporary account in Finance and Remittance Nation wide Bank PLC and asked me to claim it from the Bank.

I’m need to develop an exit strategy regarding being acquired rather than an IPO, but I’m a geek — not a finance person. What should I include to keep from looking like a total boob?

I have been reading a book entitled "Angel Investing" by Mark Van Osnabrugge and Robert J. Robinson, but it doesn’t clearly state what to include.
I should add that the business is in a very early stage, ie no product or revenues.

I’ve been looking for a finance/accounting job for the last year and without luck. I am graduating in a few months from a renown B school with 3.9. I am also done with my CPA requirements and I am sitting for CFA level 1 in a few weeks. What do I do wrong that I can’t get a job? I am using mostly Craigslist as a job searching avenue – the few calls i got back were from there. What should I do?

I’m not too good with finance or stuff like that so I need help. My mother was laid off from work about 2 weeks ago and she was confident on receiving a unemployment claim, or something like that. It’s where you get money until you get a new job, I think. So yeah, she was confident on getting that and she applied for it but that was 2 weeks ago, all she’s been getting are letters that say they can’t pay her yet. She talked on the phone with one of the workers over there, and explained the situation. The worker told her that Bi-Mart[where she worked] was trying to make it look like they didn’t fire her, and I just told her that sounded wack. She was given a notice on April that a important customer complained about her, he said she needed to improve on her English [she's mexican =o]
The company made her sign something that said that she would have to improve on that if she wanted to keep the job, and she needed to learn a system requirement or something. She took classes in order to help her improve her English and she studied the system [it's called PDX]. They were going to give her a test to see if she knows the system and to evaluate how much her English improved. Buuuut mother asked to change the date because she didn’t feel ready, and they did. They also postponed 2 more times afterward, my mom didn’t ask for those. So one day the boss of the whole place here in town came and told her that they were letting her go due to economy and such, but mom believes it’s more out of discrimination. She claims business was going well for the store, sometimes it wasn’t but most of the time it was. The worker after hearing that said that the whole thing sounded fishy and that Bi-Mart wanted it to look different [the situation]. She also said that Bi-Mart need to pay taxes and it depended on them to see if she could get the unemployment pay thingy.
Bottom line [sorry for all that shenanegans] she wants to know if she can force them to pay taxes so she can get her pay thing, she’s worried they’ll keep saying no and she might loose all her savings. I feel bad cause I don’t know what to tell her, she doesn’t want to get a job because she’s tired of working and she wants to have a break. Also, she doesn’t want to get a job until the holidays are over so she can visit the family down in cali. So yeah I need some advice to help her out of this tricky situation.
I just want a answer to question, NOT put downs. I want to help her in all this not make her feel even worse. Also, I know that everyone has to work and such but she hasn’t seen her family in awhile personally I don’t care much about that, but she does and she doesn’t want to be tied up to work again.

what is avon’s business strategy and what are actions being done to gain slaes and market shares, enter geographic or product mark, and strengthen its standing? what approaches does the company use in managing R&D, prodcution, sales and marketing, and finance?

I will be graduating in May w/a degree in Business Management w/concentration in Finance and minor in Human Resources and Accounting. I want to get my master’s but it seems that an MBA is an option for only current professionals. Do I have any other options? I see that others with bachelors other than Business get an MBA.

Im thinking of doing the business management undergraduate program. I want to major in Management but I feel like I should minor in another business field for better job prospects. Would a minor in finance be a good idea? Why or why not?

I had originally been planning to major in Marketing, but now I am not sure if I would enjoy doing that. I also hear that the marketing department is the first to go when companies downsize. Would it be better for me to do Business Management or Finance? Would either of these majors give me more jobs options? Thanks.

After applying for a couple of jobs, i got a call to work as a consultant in a company in central London.

I was given a contract by the person who called and asked to work 4 hours a day, which will be extended once i learn a content management software called drupal.

I started June 17, 2010 and at the end of the month i sent in an invoice as requested.

According to the terms of the contract i was to be paid 2wks after the invoice is sent and any party has the right to terminate after one month notice.

But after i was given the contract, the consultant who employed me was elusive about signing it.

In july 13, he asked me to take a day off on a monday, and called again on tuesday to take tuesday off, and on wed, i went to the office and he told me to take the week off, and later sent an email saying i should not come in again and they will sort out my payment.

But its been one dribble after the other and excuse upon excuse, then he starts to avoid my calls, next thing i was told by the secretary to call someone in malta ( who she said is the head of finance ) and i never met.

I talked to citizen’s advice bureau who said they dont have an expert inhouse and i should call ACAS, which i did, but ACAS said they dont deal with contractors or consultants, and since i wasnt an employee, they cant help. And i should get a lawyer.

Now i cant afford a lawyer over such a small amount and want to know what exactly to do.

I was given 2advice.

1. Make a small courts claim of the total invoice ( and one month’s salary ) since the UNSIGNED contract states any party could terminate within a month

2. Get a lawyer and claim for the invoice, and a month’s salary and put the expenses of the lawyer on the company.

LASTLY i have tried as much as possible to pursue this matter with all maturity and sent multiple emails and phone calls to the company, but only one person used to reply my emails, which he doesn’t now and doesn’t reply or return my calls anymore.

I need very clear detailed advice, as going to court is a last option for me, as i hate such legal proceedings

Before reading, please do not judge me and please only answer if you’re going to give honest answers! I am NOT making this up, so bare with me.

I am 27, just finished my GED and was debating whether to go to college. I live at home with the folks, and have my very own bedroom- with home phone! I never have owned things like my own phone before. I find myself calling my girlfriends late at night and playing with the phone cord on one finger. Anyways…My family sat me down some time ago and said they were tired of me living at home wasting my life. I was a bit offended, but listened.

My family told me they saved up ,000 for me to go to college, and that I should try to apply to some community schools first. I agreed, and was excited to already declare my major in front of them- business, with a concentration in finance.

I was accepted into a college, and my parents then deposited the funds into my bank account. They wanted me to be responsible for my own management, since it was my major after all.

But right before the first semester started, my best friend Besty took me on a trip to a casino (we live in Wisconsin). I sat down at a slot machine and put in . As I played the machine, I won! I won 0. I couldn’t believe it. I figured if it was this easy to play slots, I could earn thousands of dollars at the casino and save up to pay for an apartment. As the evening dwindled on, I sadly was losing…I lost over ,000. Betsy understood, and told me we still had one more day. But I was out of money. Then it dawned on me- I still had the ,000 my parents had put in my other account. And I happened to have the debit card on me. So I withdrew a quick ,000 from the account and played on. I lost all of it. As I made my way back to the ATM, Betsy told me to stop, and that I was making a huge mistake. I told her to mind her damn business- it was MY life and I knew what I was doing.

I ended up losing ,000 in one night on slot machines. It took me about six hours, with a dinner break inbetween at their tasty buffet. I was in shocked horror as Betsy and me returned home. I had no money left for school. I called my parents to explain what happened, and to demand ,000- ,000 for school, and ,000 for a trip back to the Casino to try to make up Apartment Saving Money, but they flat-out refused! They told me I was cut off, and that I was very stupid for gambling the money. I was so mad at them calling me stupid, and for denying me the money.

Was I wrong to do this? I know gambling is addicting, but I had a system! I’m unique- I’m not like these other people who throw all their loot away. I was on a winning streak until the end. And My parents are awful to cut me off and tell me they’re done dealing with me. Thoughts?
