Came home today to find my internet and phone disconnected. We have had no warning whatsoever. We had changed our payment details and got a message on the 15th saying that the payment was in place and all neccessary funds would be taken from there. All I could get from the phone was Talk Talk who told us it could take up to 48 hours to put back up. All for a problem that is theirs.
I rely on the internet for business, homework etc and it is simply neccessary. Furthermore, what if I was an old person or pregnant lady who relied on the phone? Disgusting in this day and age an I was told by their supervisor that there is no warning system in place. Discrase.

Question is, is what they have done legal and if not, which law are they breaking?
I’m in the UK, paid the bill as the money has been taken. Quick enough to turn it off but takes 48 hours to put back up again? I also notice they do not have systems in place to warn people about this but do have the systems to send me spam to try and get me to buy more of their rubbish.

I got my daughter a phone in October. In the last 2 weeks Capitol One has been calling her at least twice a day. I’ve told them to stop several times, and that the person they were looking for was NOT at this number. I’ve been told it takes 72 hours to remove the number from their system. 2 weeks has been ample time. The people calling were rude to her the first time they called, and I’ve instructed her not to answer 1-800 # calls. What can I do at this point to get them to stop? They have no business contacting me at all.
I would like to pursue the highest form of legal action I can against this company. From what I’ve read on the web, they are ruthless to their customers and I have no tolerance for banks at this point. They are not allowed to do what they wish to people.

Guess what, she also does her homework on her own laptop, has a flatscreen in her bedroom equipped with a ps3 & wii!

I am considering getting a black berry pearl in the next month, i would like to listen to music and type homework on it. Does anybody have any feedback on their blackberry pearl to help me decide if i should buy it? I have and upgrade so money isnt an issue.

Alright i use my desk for school work since i’m just a teenager. I love art and writing and i always try and organize it. But it never helps, within a few weeks it has odds and ends thrown all over it. Part of the issue is because i’m usually so busy i just throw whatever on it. I end up doing homework on the floor or sitting on my bed and ignore the haunting desk that i have.

Do you have some tips that can help me? Here is the description of my desk:

It has 3 drawers on the right side and one sliding drawer for the keyboard. It has a decent sized surface and i just don’t know how to organize it and what to put on their and what not to. Please help, best answer recieves ten points.

I currently have two POTS lines (possibly adding a third in the future) that I need limited call handling capabilities for. Specifically, I need a system/solution that will route incoming calls by ANI; for example, route specific ANIs to a certain extension (note: extension, not DID).

I’ve attempted to ‘do my homework’, and I’ve found this feature with larger systems – which I will consider – however migration to BRI/PRI/T1 isn’t an option due to my location. My location has no cable (cable internet), no DSL, and ISDN would more than quadruple my current monthly cost. So, basically using the current POTS lines are a given, and any solution will have to accommodate limitation. A one-time expense I can deal with, but an huge monthly bill from the local telco I can’t afford. Obviously, due to the above a VOIP solution isn’t feasible (that would be so simple if only…).

I’m familiar with programming (older) AT&T/Lucent/Avaya Partner systems, and I’m willing to take on a different model or vendor (I have friends who can help with programming as well).

All of the above being said, to ‘sum it up’ my issue is figuring out what equipment I need to route specific ANIs to specific extensions.

I know this is a bit ‘out-of-the-box’. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You don’t have to do it ont he computer like I did. rough measurements are also appreciated so i can get a feel for the size of the desk. (I.E. mine would be about 6ft tall, 5ft or 4 and a half ft wide.)

My 11yr old has NO work ethic. I have been trying to come up with solutions to this. Her father and I work hard for what we have (we have our own business) but she doesn’t make the connection between working hard and having rewards. Even though we have explained to her that if you don’t want to work hard, you don’t get fun things- she just doesn’t get it. I am considering implementing a new, real-life, reward/consequences system next year when she gets into middle school. What do you think?
The rewards/consequences for grades are as follows:
** Note: she is a smart kid and she ALWAYS has access to help with anything she may not understand. (there is no reason she should get a D or an F)

Any F’s or D’s – No time for playing because she has to re-do any assignments she did poorly or has to complete assignments she didn’t do, this includes re-doing tests at home and getting good grades on them. If she has good grades in all but the 1 class she got an F or D in she might have time to play after she re-does the work. If she has more than 1 F or D, don’t count on any recrational time. When the grade is brought up, she no longer has to re-do work.

Any C’s no electronics: Tv, video games, computer, phone until the grade is brought up. No exceptions until the grade goes up. If a D or F is brought up to a C, she doesn’t have to re-do any assignments but still doesn’t get electronics.

B’s- gets access to all fun things in the house including electronics when homework is done. Has a regular bed time and has to stick to it.

A’s- gets access to all fun things in the house and gets to go out and do something special on the weekends if all other grades are B’s or above.

ALL A’s: Gets special privledges which include staying up a little later, spending money, and will get 1 day off school after recieving a report card with all A’s to just have fun.

If she has all A’s and 1 C, no electronics and nothing special until the C gets up to a B. If she has all A’s/B’s and an F/D she still has to re-do work and won’t get to do anything fun until she re-does the work and her grade goes up.

The purpose of this is to show her that life sucks if you don’t put effort into it and that if you work hard and go above and beyond, you will get great rewards. Anything worth having is worth working for. If she wants to hang out with friends on the weekend and have fun, she needs to take care of her school responsabilities during the week

I’ve been trying to do my homework, and unfortunately the cell phones that look really cool with the best features are not usable where I live. verizon seems to have the coolest, with T-mobile next. I can get an iphone here, but the others seem better. Unfortunately, no coverage here for either company. Why can’t you just pick a phone you like and it work with a different company?

I’m looking for a good Parental Control Software. I have one that I bought several years ago called Kid-Watch. It seemed to be a resource hog. Maybe they all are.

I’m not home in the evenings (working). It’s an unfortunate situation, but my teenager stills needs access to the internet for homework, etc.

I’d like to limit sites, limit time, control what software’s are used, but I also don’t want a software that doesn’t allow him to do the things he needs to do.

It’s not easy to find a good comparative website on the subject that the manufacturer doesn’t own to push their own brand.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
