I have a Cisco 3560G switch that has one port locked because I failed to use a crossover cable when I tried to add another switch downstream. Can I safely unplug the switch to force the switch to reset? This works for servers and linux boxes, but I do not know about Cisco switches.

I have a laptop that I want to basically make a cell phone. I always have Wi-Fi so VoIP/SIP seems like the best option. I want to be able to have free calls to landlines and other softphones. Do you know a service that would allow me to do this? (It usually doesn’t matter, but I am running linux Ubuntu 8.04)

ok, call this a noob question, but im just starting to get back into the tech stuff after being out of it for a while. i just found out today that nobody makes agp video cards anymore, an di was kind of dissapointed.
anyway, for the people more versed in this 32 to 64 bit revolution, what kind of experience should i encounter running a 32 bit program on a straight 64 bit processor?
not taking into account the dual core stuff, if i built a tower thats straight 64 bit processor and run a non 64 bit software application like normal windows xp or linux, what will i be in for?
will it run at all, any lagging, or wont i notice much of a difference at all? any and all details are helpful!

We have a business telephone system in New York. We provide remote services to companies and regular users requiring someone to do something that they can’t do (it has to do with Linux programming).
Anyways, this has not happened yet, but I want to prepare for it in case it does happen. If a calling party refuses to send a check or disputes a credit card payment to us, we need to provide evidence that they were aware of our service charges and the only effective way to do this is by recording calls. Our phone system has a call recording option, so that’s not the problem. But what would be the law regarding this?
Before our automated attendant announces the options, should I have someone say "calls are recorded for proof of conversation"? (and if the answer is yes, can you please give me a more professional way of saying this?)
If this isn’t necessary, I can just record calls without their consent?
Thanks

So, I am recently in a position where my full time contract is not being renewed due to financial hardship on the part of the company. They wish to go with an outside and less expensive option. Now, to make a long story short, I wish to be that option. I know the system, and the people, and I know how to run anything they need run because I built it. My question I guess is what is the going rate for offsite network administration, and onsite on-call patch ups and installs. I know this is a regional thing, So Cal USA is where I am at.
Where should I look, how does one even quantify the kind of services in question? (Networking, Linux, Windows, Mac and a variety of handheld systems, printers, phone systems, things what run on electricy in general)
