I am a sales & marketing associate in a software outsourcing development company in China. Where can I find potential partners or clients? What forum or online community?

I recently learned a bit more about the business industry from a seminar at my college, but wasn’t able to get my questions answered. I worked for a family owned shoe store and was able to help decide on which shoes were to be ordered, make company desicions, etc., and I loved having the responsibility to make good business decisions. I’m just wondering what I should consider for my major; Business with a focus on marketing, or management? Any insight would be helpful!

I’ve requested a business call allowance or a telephone line many times to the Administration Department but to no avail. I am in the marketing field so imagine the business calls i have incoming and outgoing. I end up using my personal phone for business calls and it is costing me so much. I’ve explained to the Administration Department and the GM the need of company phone for business calls but they are sleeping on it…what should I do? I cannot tell the media and other business people not to call me in my mobile….

This is a question out of a book on the marketing industies. This chapter happens to be on the subject of prices we as consumers have to pay and on the industries that put these prices on their products or services.

An LG-EnV phone is only available with Verizon. You can’t get it if you have TMobile or ATT, etc.. I thought this type of marketing goes against certain laws of trade and commerce in the U.S.A.

Someone told me the name makes him (a native English Speaker) feels no trendy or cool at all. He said it likes someone trying to speak English in the cool way but in fact, it’s wrong in sound. Under marketing perspective, what do you think?

I was just wondering. I am a business management major and I haven’t chosen a minor yet, but I’m thinking about marketing or psychology (now I’m leaning more toward marketing). Also, is this a good major/minor combo?

Right now I’m majoring in business management but also thinking about doing a double major with economics. I’ve done a little bit of research and it seems like something I might like but I’m not that good at math and was wondering if there is alot of math, statistics, etc. Not only that, but would that be a plus when I start applying for jobs, or should I combine management with something else like marketing?

As a psych major I am well aware that my major is useless on its own so I am going to get some background in business by majoring in human resource management. My college also offers seven other business minors, accounting, business administration, economics, international business, management, management information systems, marketing, and personal financial planning. Which of these would be beneficial along with my HRM minor?

I have used my business phone number for over 7 years and it is on every piece of marketing I have given to my clients over the past 7 years. I am moving offices from Encino (Los Angeles) to Woodland Hills (Los Angeles) which is 15 miles or so away. However, based on my discussion with our phone person, since we are moving from one call center to the next, I can not keep the number. I can forward the number indefinitely but I will have to pay for two or three paths to make sure that when one person calls and I am on the line with him/her, the second caller doesn’t hear a busy signal. I don’t want to pay 2-3 paths, which will cost me as much as a phone line. How do I get around this arcane restriction.? Thank you in advance.

when receiving marketing calls lately, I have been told by telemarketers that business phones are not included in the Do Not Call Registry, is this true?

I’ve been working full-time for a small company as an Executive Assistant for 2 years now. Well that’s a fancy title my boss gave me so he looks good in front of others (there’s only 8 employees) but I pretty much do everything from taking service calls to A/R, A/P Marketing to ordering stuff from Staples..and et cetra.. I’m also a full-time MBA student and taking night classes four times a week.
So..Here’s the story..
My boss wants me to go to a training for an Accounting software for 3 days in another state during my school days (our company’s Acct system is basically messed up since noone really knows how to do anything and they cannot afford to hire an accountant)
I’m taking four classes, and those 3 days my boss wants me to go to the training, I will have 3 exams.. My boss wants me to talk to professors and get permission to be absent..
– Missing three MBA classes is a lot to me since each class is only offered once a week. Besides I know Midterms are going to be held on those days..
- I haven’t spoken to my professors but I know they don’t like giving make-ups and other accommodations unless you have emergency or Doc’s notes..
- The software training is held every month, so if I can’t make it in October, there’s rooms in November session.
- My boss will make me feel really guilty if I told him I cannot make it next month..
Does anybody have similar experience?? What should I do? Or what should I tell my boss?
