I am delving into a new business venture and am curios if I can use my existing hardline business phone through the internet. Do I need any kind of special phone system? Do I need kind of special connection adapter modem etc? Thanks

My boss signed us up for a new business package from cox, this package is supposed to come with a pieceof hardware that we write each of the phones into and this will handle the switching.

I am to do the building writing for this, I know either way I can use cat5 cable to handle the 4 phone lines, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with this hardware or the phones that cox gives you with this package anf could tell me if they use 4 individual RJ11 connectors or if they accept one RJ45 connector for all of the lines

aside from the obvious cleaning supplies,telephone,transportation . i mean like the important things for getting off the ground and where would i start with limited resources. any good ideas for money saving strategies once starting my new business!

For franchising a new business

I have a list of dates and purchases/credits and need to create a general accounting journal, I don’t even know where to start!
Prepare general journal entries for the following transactions of a new business called Pose for Pics.
Aug. 1 Hashim Paris, the owner, invested ,500 cash and ,500 of photography equipment in
the business.
Aug 1 Paid ,000 cash for an insurance policy covering the next 24 months.
Aug 5 Purchased office supplies for ,400 cash.

I am starting my own business and need to get some business cards. My computer is messed up so I cannot buy/download any software. This being a new business-funds are low. The only "graphics" I want is PRS with the "S" having a straight line on the bottom and have it come across to underline the other letters. I also would like some input on what colors would go together well?

My husband is going out of town once a week each month and I have two little children. We have a 2 story house and I just started a new business my contact nfo is out there. I know that we are probably in a safe place but I would feel so much better if we had a security system. He told me that he bought this house because it is a safe place. I told him that I sleep with one eye open and mace and all the phones and cell phone under the pillow. We have a sun room and I feel like anyone could get in. It just scares me. He said he would like to cosmetically fix our car rather than purchase a security system. He thinks I am making too much out of this. I told him that he is selfish for not putting me and the children first. I am so tired because I don’t sleep. Help, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
I am not needing a security system to be needy. I understand he has to go away for business and I am so thankful that he still has a job. I want to feel safe in my own home with my children. I know he does not want to spend the money and he doesn’t feel like my fear is legitimate. I already talked to someone about installing one and I am just getting the minimum amount to make me feel better. But we have not agreed on this yet.
I am happy to tell you that my husband finally agrees with me and has allowed me to put a security system in. We have not gotten our quote yet so we will see how much it is and then go from there. Thank You for all the answers I appreciate it.

We see this a lot in business these days. Airlines, Nortel, Charter, Sirius, K-mart etc.

So…I can’t believe that I fell in this trap but I did…so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older…so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them…and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway…right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I’m worried about my credit card…I’ll have to watch it carefully!
So…be careful out there…all these internet money making websites are scam!

I have done this, but ended it after 4 yrs exp in 2003:

•Provided phone support at help desk for first year before moving to programming.

•Analyzed software requirements to determine design within time and system limitations.
•Conferred with data processing and project managers to obtain capabilities for projects.

•Experience gained on a Dec Alpha (VAX) Mainframe with a VMS operating system.
Programmed in basic utilizing flat file databases or embedded SQL with Oracle.

I would like to add, that I can’t stand the politics. I went the opposite way after this experience, and now my $$$ has only gone downhill.

I don’t care if the money is gone, I really just want to do, you know, easy things….but I can’t get a job. I will say, that when I programmed, I loved it, I was even told by my SR programmer to socialize more. but I couldn’t……I was told by my boss programmers that they would give me a reference, but i never accepted it because I don’t like talking to people. the whole time I was there I did about 10X the work that other programmers did, and I was always upset that they had a college degree and was asking me questions.
I am paranoid and I count everything. I must have a disability but since I worked like this for so long I can’t apply for disability. and now I only know c and basic languages, with only exp in basic on a dec alpha mainframe for 4 yrs, but that is old stuff…..I’ve been writing programs since the 1st grade when i write a guessing game program on a apple computer, yet i am too messed up to get a job (if i had the job i’d do it fine), I HATE PEOPLE THAT GET DEGREES IN PROGRAMMING, AND SUCCEED WHEN I HELPED THEM THE WHOLE TIME I ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING IN LIFE BECAUSE I LIKE TO HELP PEOPLE JUST TO FIND OUT THAT PEOPLE ABOVE ME GET ON MY NERVES AND I CAN’T TAKE IT AND I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO GET A JOB WHEN MY CODE WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND DOING WELL, THEY RE-HIRED ME AFTER 1 YEAR FOR ,000 MORE BEFORE LAID OFF AGAIN BECAUSE THE CO WAS SOLD AND I AM ALWAYS QUITE WITH PEOPLE BUT I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHY CAN I DO SOMETHING SO WELL, BUT PEOPLE ALWAYS GET IN THE WAY, I CAN’T FIND A JOB SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH ME
