I am moving into a new building, and was recently informed that all tenants must provide their phone numbers to have an active doorbell. I’ve never heard of this before? But then I’ve always lived in older buildings. Can someone explain how this works, and why management offices are doing this? What happens if your phone service is disconnected for non-payment and turned back on? Will management have to reprogram everything again?
Does this mean the bell doesn’t ring at all? Only the phone? Does this mean all visitors must have my phone number? I don’t give all my relatives my home number? lol
Also, when someone rings the bell, will caller ID let me know whether it’s the door or a call? Sometimes all this high tech stuff just takes away from privacy.

How a voip can save your money. Actually I know that voip is the cheapest phone service available but my friend told me that I could save more money with VoIP if I use it intelligently.

If your phone service is off for about a day, will you still recieve all the text messages when you pay the bill? Will they come immediately, and sorry for the stupid question. It’s on a boost mobile plan.

OK I see they are basically Tracfone and I had one of them about a year ago. The actual phone service was fine, but when I first had to sign it up it was nothing but a headache. The customer service was foreign and hard to speak with over a line that was not very good. Can you just buy the phone, add the minutes on the card and be done with ST? I don’t want to use my credit card or talk with anyone to set the phone up. Thanks.

If some one has life line on their phone and has a maintenance problem and didn’t carry the extra 5 dollars a month for inside phone maintenance , should they have problems with their phone service. What happens ?

Just wondering if cable companies use existing phone jacks to install phone service. I wasn’t sure if they used coax since, you know, they’re a cable company.

We got Cox cable based phone service and internet last month. We had planned on using a wireless router for our laptops. However we can’t get the router to work. The router claims it can use windows XP which we have but all we get is a message sayiny it can’t support the device.
Could our pc be too old? It is about 7-8 years old.

Is there an alternative phone service other than Vonage that does not require high speed Internet? I only have AOL with dial up Internet service. Thanks.
Clarification to my question: Is there an alternate phone service (other than the local phone co.) using only dial-up Internet service?

I want to order the HTC Evo 4G with Sprint service through the HTC Online store since there is a discount today (probably because of the release of the 3D). However, I already have a cell phone and the billing cycle doesn’t end until next month.
If I order the phone/service today and receive it by next week, would the phone service on this new phone already be activated?

I’m looking to cut costs per month. I recently got an iPhone and I still have my land phone connection. What issues would I have to face if I cancelled my land phone service and handled all phone contact through my iPhone?
