Something like ‘show mac address-table | inc Gi0/7" will not work because the device may or may not be in the arp table. I can not ping it because I don’t know the IP.

I know there are a lot of kits that can turn any electrical outlet into a phone extension, but this is different. I have a phone jack on one wall, and a regular business phone in the middle of a table of a large room. I don’t want to run a cord all the way from the wall to the phone. I’d rather plug a device into the wall jack, and plug the phone into a little box that can talk to the box I plugged into the jack. Kind of a wireless "bridge" using Bluetooth or something. Does this exist?

I have a phone jack on one wall, and a rather complex business phone in the middle of a table of a large room that is not sold as a wireless model. I don’t want to run a cord all the way from the wall to the phone. I’d rather plug a device into the wall jack, and plug the phone into a little box that can talk to the box I plugged into the jack. Kind of a wireless "bridge" using Bluetooth or something. Does this exist? (I can’t just buy a regular wireless phone, because I need all the complex functions on this business phone and handset . . .)

This all started several months ago when DirecTV called my grandparents saying that they needed to upgrade their old channel package, because theirs was no longer available and they risked their service being canceled because of it. They have had this same exact package since 1997 when they first got DirecTV. They have never missed a payment on a bill, canceled, or suspended their DirecTV service since then and they still have the same package today.
My grandmother called and asked them about it a couple weeks later, but the customer service representative she talked to had no idea what she was talking about, and said not to worry about it. The very next day a DirecTV van came to their house, but none of the employees had any idea about why they were there. My grandmother explained it to them. One of the employees told my grandfather to buy an 8" x 8" board and cement it into the ground behind the house a few feet away from their old satellite dish. He bought the board and did so.
A few days later they returned, but the new employee said the Slimline dish they were going to install needed to be mounted on a metal pole instead of the board. He also said it would be condemned if they ever performed an inspection. They installed the satellite dish on the board anyways and upgraded their old satellite receiver box with an HD box. They do not pay for HD service now nor have they ever and said so to the employee. They have a 20 year old television set that cannot show anything in HD. He said the HD box would pick up SD channels as well and that it would only get HD channels if they called them back out again to activate the HD software in the box.
That was the last time they ever showed up. Now my grandparents cannot view any channels that are in HD, even with the formatting and resolutions changed to SD settings. They are paying to watch channels like the Discovery Channel (278) and the Hallmark Channel (312), which are included in their package, but the channels show up as black screens and say that they haven’t been payed for. This only happens with HD channels, but SD channels show up fine.
My grandmother called them back, but they said that the person whose name on the bill (my grandfather’s) is the only person who can ask for a changed or upgraded service, even though SHE was the one who originally called them. I personally called them later, but they said the same thing. They also said that they couldn’t change the box back unless it had been broken and was not functioning properly.
They were going to cancel service entirely and switch to Dish Network, but the lease my grandmother signed for the equipment stated that if they do not stay with DirecTV for at least two years they would be charged a 0 fine for each the box and the satellite dish. We called them again and asked how we could get SD service with the box. The employee stated that we needed to buy another old television and order another separate DirecTV service with a second dish, box, and bill in my grandmother’s name.
What I’m asking is does anyone know of a way for them to get Standard Definition service back? Or is there any way for them to "get around the lease" and not have to pay a huge fine for canceling DirecTV service? They are on a very limited budget and live so far away from the city that cable TV isn’t an option. They still have their old receiver box and satellite dish, both of which they own. When the new Slimline satellite was installed the employee installing it cut the cable to the old satellite so it couldn’t be reconnected.

i just got my hands on a very old solid wood desk. it was very dirty; it had years worth of papers and mice left overs stuck to it. i brushed it clean with a solution of Murphy’s oil and water. now that it is clean i can see that it has some stains, discoloration, white rings, and some sides of the legs are scraped clean of paint. it also has many scratches.
I would like to refinish it without taking away the "antiqueness" of it and without reducing its value.
is "Restore-a-Finish" a good choice of product for this project?
Thanks for any help.

I already have a "SpeedTouch" ADSL modem and a separate Netgear RangeMax WPN824 wireless router hooked up to my Dell Dimension 4600 PC with Windows XP. My system works fine. When I try to add my Linksys SPA3102 into the network it doesn’t work. I lose the internet connection. I can make outgoing calls but am not able to receive incoming calls.

We have a RE agent who, when he was trying to set up a showing of our house, would break into phone conversations we were having on our house phone (hard line). This happened 4 times. We DON’T have call waiting. This guy was too impatient for us to get off the phone. He even admitted on one occasion that he was listening to our conversations.
We use Vonage which goes through our computer and so we have no access to the "outside phone world" through a phone box or telephone pole. However, Vonage utilizes the existing jack system within the house so that we’re able to have a phone in most every room.
I called Vonage to ask how this could be happening and they said there must be a tap on the jack line but after carefully investigating our phones and lines, I saw no evidence of a bug.
I know that there are access codes someone could use to do this but don’t have much data re: this.
How does someone get & use these codes? Can these codes be traced back to the user?

Whenever I connect to an open network in my school with my phone, psp or laptop, it always redirects me on the browser to a "Cisco" network..? It says log in…
My question is, is there anyway I can sign up for this network free?
(p.s I know it’s there to protect the network)

Hey all. This might be a dumb request, but I feel like I’m at a stand still, and need help.
Well this is my background: I’m a 19yr old guy. I’m really smart on anything to do with electronics. Especially PC repair, and phone repair. I make my living by repairing peoples computers, phones, and video game systems. And I buy and sell on eBay. And everyone who knows me, says I’m very intelligent, have a good head on my shoulders, and will be the next Bill Gates.
And I ways teach myself everything I learn. I love learning. BUT lately, I feel like I’m at a stand still, and was wondering what are some good books for me to read, to gain intelligence in business, etc?
If you seen the documentary on A&E or on Netflix of "Kaspar Carr" well that’s how my mindset is, and I wanna be like him. Except of course, not being a thief. I just think the same as him. Like I see other things that most of my friends don’t notice. And j can see the potential profit in stuff.
Thanks for any help! Email me at harborelite91@gmail.com if you want, because it’s harder to talk on here, since I can’t reply to answers.

I have just signed up for VOIPforLife (voice over internet service life Vonage). I have a DSL line from Verizon. The VOIP is working great on the one phone I have plugged into the phone adapter. I didn’t realize until today that my DSL is carried throughout the house over the same lines that voice is. I went to the NID box and tried to isolate the inside wiring and of course lost the DSL.
I could buy a wireless set of phones to carry voice throughout the house, but I have a DIsh Network DVR (like TIVO) that needs a dedicated phone connection.
I have a couple of options, I could isolate the DSL from the rest of the house by splitting the phone jack by the phone adapter, but I’m not 100% sure that the VOIP provider is honest in saying that the jacks are parellel jacks.
Is there any way to provide a "wireless" phone jack for my DVR reciever? It seems like the latter would be the easiest way to put one phone jack in a different room.

i have a krazr and it sucks. My mom signed me up for a 3 year plan and i dont want to have it till im 18!!!! I love the plan but hate the phone. Im with manitoba telecom systems (mts) so how much would it cost to get a new phone without "losing it" like a general price for all phone companies.
