I need proffessional opinions on my resume?

i work at a call center right now, after the receptionist "industry" here went down the drain. but I HAVE to get out of this place. i REALLY want to find work as a secretary or receptionist. i ‘m a people person and thrive in a proffessional atmosphere. So here’s my resume for a executive secretary position at a private doctors office. I would much love opinions!

To whom is may concern
I am writing this letter to express my interest in the executive secretary position that I discovered in your Craigslist ad.
I believe I am an ideal candidate for this position because I am a detail oriented, caring, outgoing, charismatic, and passionate individual. I have previous experience as a receptionist, along with a strong background in telephone etiquette and front desk manners. I have a sunny, out going disposition, and a desire to put a smile on each person’s face the moment they walk through the door. While striving to be the best that I can be, I work to excel beyond expectations in all that I do. I have good judgment skills when handling confidential material and information, with the desire to find solutions to even the toughest problems while maintaining a professional atmosphere. I am energetic and have the ability to multi task in a fast pace environment and am highly motivated to succeed!
You may view my information on my resume that is attached. I will contact you within 1-2 weeks to arrange an interview. I am available any day of the week after 5, or anytime on the weekends. You can contact me at (phone number). If you need references I can provide them upon request. I thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,

Rachel (last name)

Diet for a Receptionist stuck at a desk? Help?

I eat about 6 times during the day. I do a well balanced work out plan through the week. I eat decent foods when I am stuck at my desk as a receptionist. I am tall and slim.
In my good physical activity I get outside of sitting on my butt 7 hours a day, I wonder if I don’t really need to worry about the "decent" foods I eat at my job because I’m burning off sugars and calories anyway from being so active?
Or if I should really NOT be eating (some of) these foods at my desk since I can’t be active to burn off any bad fats or sugars. Please take a look at the list of things (below). I alternate from day to day things I eat at work. You are welcome to tell me anything I should change!
Will give points for help!

‘Light’ 6oz yogurt
AllBran crackers
apple, sometimes with peanut butter
clementines
1/2 sandwich w/ buttermilk bread turkey&cheddar cheese
a string cheese stick
granola bar
boiled egg
1 in. slice sweet potato w/ low fat cottage cheese
celery, sometimes w/ pb

Every time I call a business, there is
A. a robotic voice that directs you through this system of "subcategories" rather than just having someone answer the phone and transferring you
B. a list of websites I can go to "to find the information to my questions" (when often times this isn’t true)
C. a bunch of advertising tied-in to the robotic phone directory

I find this very annoying and impersonal. And when the receptionist finally does answer the phone, more often than not, I am directed to a website rather than to another person (in the right department) who can answer my question. Are receptionists/secretaries even going to be needed in the next few years?

This is my first time working as a receptionist and i would like to know what are the etiquettes or guidelines to greet customers on the telephone. Any ideas?

I have a major problem this the e-mail that I sent to BBB :

"I have a HP laptop Pavilion dv7 that I purchased from Wal-Mart brand new in 2008. A couple months after the manufactures warranty expired I accidentally dropped my laptop at school but it did not break anything but the faceplate over the charger port; however, the laptop was still use able but it did not charge. I took my laptop to my local computer store in Roxboro,NC. They informed me that we did not work with the power port and that I would have to go to different company that does good work with charger ports. Due to my schedule I just went to the closets computer shops on the list, so with that I went to Danville,VA to ‘Computer Clinics’ located on 932 Arnett Boulevard Danville, VA 24540-2233 (P-(434) 791-2111). Once I got there I told the receptionist what happened and I was told that I would receive a phone call once the technician looks at my laptop. A couple of days went by and I received a phone call while at work from Computer Clinics stating that I would be charged 0.00 fee + .00 for parts. So I agreed to it and I was told that I would receive a phone call once my laptop was ready for pick-up only to my disbelief I get a call saying that my motherboard was broken and that there was no charge for the services, it would be fairly expensive to repair the motherboard in which it would be cheaper to purchase another laptop. So I wanted to check my laptop out myself but my schedule didn’t work around the business hours of Computer Clinics so I asked a friend to pick it up for me. When he got to Computer Clinics a technician told him that my password that I gave them did NOT work. So once I had my laptop in my possession I noticed that the charger port was now fixed but the laptop itself would not power on. So the following Saturday I return with several witness before I contact the BBB with a case and have a little talk with the technicians. They could not find the written ticket that was written up but found some information on their computer systems, I talked with the technician named John who told me that he would look at my laptop the following Monday morning. Before closing time on Monday I called back to Computer Clinics to see what was resolved and I was told by another technician that my laptop motherboard was broken where the charger port was at and it could not be turned on. And quoted me a price of a new motherboard for my laptop.

I’m highly upset with this company and the only thing I want done is my laptop fixed. Before I brought my laptop to Computer Clinics I used my laptop at school charging my battery with my sister’s computer since we have the same computer just different styling. I have all my voice mails from the computer clinics receptionist and my call logs from my cell phone and my slip from Computer Solutions in Roxboro, NC referring to different computer businesses that could fix the charger port since most companies would not touch a charger port."

I know I’m not a computer tech but I know there story doesn’t add up and that laptop was the top of the line HP Laptop at the time and I had no intentions of getting a new one or having it in use. I would like to know some information about how to get my laptop fixed by the company that royally screwed me over – pardon my language and it basically trying to weasel their way out of not fixing it- unless I pay. Please I need someone(s) help to what my next step I should take. Also note that this takes place within two different states: NC, VA.

Business Phone Lines-VOIP?

I have a technical question about our business phone lines. We are a business that currently has 4 lines with Verizon and do VOIP in-house through our server. We have 1 main office number and different extensions that branch off that main number. We also have voicemail through a server and do everything through VOIP in house. We are now moving and are going with Comcast to get the phone lines needed. We put in an order for 2 phone lines with voicemail and we no longer want to run the VOIP solution in-house through our server. What are our options to continue to be able to run this successfully? We basically want to be able to have people call our main number and press 0 to speak to a receptionist, leave a voicemail if the receptionist doesn’t answer, and dial an extension to get to someone in particular, or leave them a direct voicemail if they don’t answer. I don’t know if i need more than 2 lines with Comcast and I have no idea how to get this to work.

I have an Avaya Partner 18D phone here at work, I had reset the phones accidentally. (i’m the new receptionist.) Some calls, NOT ALL, when they come in, the phone rings once and it is picked up for some reason by i dont know what! I tried calling from my cell, and it’s an automated message machine that says "party is unavailable, press another parties extension" but we don’t have assigned extensions. I need it off!!

We just recently moved offices and when we did, the phone system has been re-set. Here’s the situation: We have 7 incoming lines. When someone calls one of the lines, the phone at the receptionist’s desk and my phone ring. My phone is only supposed to ring when my direct extension is dialed by someone else in the office, not every 20 seconds when someone calls the office.

How can I get this to stop? Our phone guy is a doofus and says he doesn’t know how. It can be done, because it used to be that way. Anyone know how to stop it? it’s driving me crazy.

My company wants to change the greeting the receptionist says when she answers the phone to something more inviting like, "Good Morning, thank you for calling (company name), This is (receptionist) How can I make your day better?" but others think this example is too cheesy. Let me know your thoughts, Help please.

I work as a receptionist, and every so often, we get this annoying recorded call that doesn’t stop for days.

It is a lady saying "Oh, I’m sorry. I must have dialed the wrong number."

We don’t have caller id, and our system is set up on a PRI, so we can’t research the calls.

Anybody else gotten this before? If so, did you have caller id or figure out what company is doing it?

Comcast business phone systems?

I am setting up a small office and trying to decide what I need phone wise.

There will be 6 offices, 3 receptionist, and a conference room

There will be a total of 10 lines. We want a system where there is a main office line which goes to a receptionist and she can then transfer calls to the respective offices. Each person also needs a line to make outgoing calls and we would like them to have direct lines as well.

Where should we be looking/ doing?

Thanks in advance. We know it may be necessary to set up a phone system, but at this point I want to see what I would be able to do myself. By the way we will be using comcast.

How do I get over my nervousness at my new job?

I just started a new job. I have to call businesses and ask them for details about their company, such as what computers they use, etc. Or, I have to call and ask the receptionist/operator things like "Who is your senior manager" and "who is the person responsible for your phone systems", etc.

It makes me nervous to call strangers like that, but I really need this job. How can I cope with this nervousness?
