I have never worked from Sprint, but I did work for Alltel (which is now part of Verizon) at a call center. First, they called me for a phone interview, where I had to answer things over the phone (kind of makes sense since you’ll be talking on the phone). When I passed that part I was accepted for a second interview, face to face. When I went in for my interview they first took me over to a computer and testing my typing speed and accuracy- since you will be sitting at a computer all day, and you’ll need to access things fast. After they did that, they pulled me into an office and did a formal interview- nothing new. They asked me why I wanted to work for them, etc. etc. They also required that I got a drug test, so I had to go do that.
I’m not sure how different Sprint is- they may go over situations with you, and ask you how you would deal with them. Just remember in this case that you want to make the customer happy, or at least show respect in a situation that you cannot help them as much (such as unpaid bills). Remain calm. They won’t put you on a phone with a customer, but they may roleplay with you- so just keep respectful attitude in mind.
Since my interview went well, and they knew I would pass the drug test I was offered the job on the spot. But it may be different if a lot of people are applying or whatnot.
Now, with Alltel we had a month long class, they may do something similar once you get the job. There is a lot to learn about the phone industry. When you actually hit the floor, try to manage stress well. It is an extremely stressful job, that’s why they pay so much. So, hopefully you can handle yourself pretty well.
Good luck on getting the job- who knows, I may be calling you for help with me phone since I just transfered to Sprint! Take it easy, and remain calm during the interview, you’ll do great!
