Nowadays most of the companies have computerized their accounting activities. So, is there a chance that the accounting jobs and book keeping jobs be outsourced to India since labour being very cheap and a huge number of people are graduated every year in india. Unlike call centre jobs, you dont need to "speak" in english for an accountant job ![]()

Accounting jobs will always be in demand, especially in the upcoming years as reported by the department of labor recently. Yahoo had a report out today I believe speaking about jobs that are still being hired for, accountants were number one. I recommend you stay away from a place like Bank of America (they love India), but I would think you have endless opportunities. Look at the reports on Yahoo for today, not a bad read.
I believe many have been already.
That said, the attraction is less immediate than with IT support and call centre activities. These ‘fit’ so well because the time zone difference lends itself to 24/7 service. I’m not sure that book keeping is yet a 24 hour activity.
I think that the lower risk aspects of the job will be outsourced to cheaper labour as its the accounting way to pinch pennies anywhere possible. however so much reliance is put on financials (for good reason) that the entire accounting process would never be outsourced as the risk of error (and therefore a very expensive court battle) is too high. Accounting firms also have to justify their huge fees which i am certain they dont want to give up.
